Girlified grew from a University of Jos research project under Naza Agape Foundation into a commercial product, combining Prayer's advocacy and community outreach with William's materials R&D and climate-tech entrepreneurship.
From banana plantations to the research lab, our founders built an eco-friendly sanitary pad that tackles period poverty and plastic pollution across Africa.

What began as fibre-to-fluff research at the University of Jos, under the Naza Agape Foundation, identified a dual crisis: period poverty affecting girls in remote communities and plastic pollution from conventional sanitary pads.
With support from the Canadian Government under the Afri-Plastics Challenge, that research became Girlified a biodegradable pad made from banana stem fibre, organic cotton, and cassava starch that decomposes fully in six months.

Together with a team of innovators and market strategists, Girlified became possible.

βAs a girls and women advocate, I am very concerned about period poverty and the harmful impact plastics from sanitary pads have on our ecosystem and oceans. For that reason, we have manufactured Girlified to counter both plastic pollution and period poverty.β
Founder & CEO of Naza Agape Foundation, Prayer has impacted 18,000+ lives through education, welfare, and empowerment programmes across Nigeria and beyond. She leads Girlified community outreach, free pad distributions, and menstrual hygiene sensitization for underserved girls and women.

βI am passionate about climate change and am an entrepreneur who has put all my years of experience working with women and girls into developing eco-friendly sanitary pads. Girlified is rightly positioned to positively address the perennial issues of plastic pollution and period poverty.β
With a background in physics from the University of Jos, Oghenekevwe leads fibre-to-fluff R&D converting banana pseudostem and natural cotton into absorbent cores. He is Regional Director of Naza Agape Foundation and an O'Shaughnessy Fellowship grantee.

As Founder & CEO of Naza Agape Foundation, Mrs Prayer (Chinaza) Nwagboso channels over eight years of humanitarian work into Girlified's community programmes, free pad distributions, school sensitization, and menstrual hygiene education for girls in rural and underserved communities who would otherwise miss school.
For International Women's Day 2025, Naza Agape Foundation embraced the theme #AccelerateActionΒ calling on all of us to break barriers, create opportunities, and uplift young girls to reach their full potential. Through education, empowerment, and action, Mrs Prayer is building a future where every woman and girl thrives.
βAt Naza Agape Foundation, we believe in the power of education, empowerment, and action to transform lives. Together, let's build a future where every woman and girl thrives.β
